regarding dashnaks

Postby artsakh on Thu Apr 12, 2007 5:57 am

I came across this website, and found a couple of interesting remarks regarding the Dashnaks:

" The program begins with discussion of the assassination of the Prime Minister and Parliamentary Speaker of Armenia. Coming shortly after U.S. State Department officials attempted to negotiate a settlement in the long-running conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the killings were accomplished by members of the Dashnag party."

"The Dashnags are an Armenian ultra-nationalist group that actively collaborated with the Third Reich and other fascist groups from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union."

"Next, the program highlights Dashnag collaboration with the Christian Mobilizers, an American fascist group that sympathized with Hitler. The Mobilizers and their leader, Gerald L.K. Smith, were the direct precursors of the contemporary Aryan Nations."

"In the course of setting forth the history of the Dashnags, Mr. Emory speculates that the contemporary incarnation of the group may be collaborating with either the Underground Reich and/or elements of intelligence services. (The most likely suspects would be the BND or fascist elements within the U.S. intelligence establishment.) "

Currently the matter is not so much in recognizing the Armenian Genocide, as recognizing the responsibility of the Turkish government for that crime,” “Hay Dat” office head Giro Manoyan stated to a press conference in Yerevan. He said, Today Turkey tries to increase his value both for the U.S. and the European community. “Armenia’s foreign policy is clear and right in this connection: we do not put preconditions and are sure the opening of borders must not be connected with the Armenian Genocide, though ARF Dashnaktsutyun thinks if someone has the right for preconditions, it is Armenia and not Turkey. Nevertheless, I am sure our government is on the right way,” Manoyan stressed. He also added ARF Dashnaktsutyun thinks it necessary to make not only moral, but also territorial demands of Turkey. “Turkey has problems with all his neighbors – with Armenia, Greece, Iraq. Sooner or later all those demands will be made,” the “Hay Dat” office head said.

DASHNAKS DEMAND GREATER SAY IN GOVERNMENT
By Ruzanna Stepanian

Radio Liberty, Czech Rep.
May 29 2007

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) will join Prime
Minister Serzh Sarkisian's new cabinet only if it is given a greater
say in how Armenia should be governed, a leader of the influential
party said on Tuesday.

Hrant Markarian, the top member of Dashnaktsutyun's worldwide
governing Bureau, said it does not want to be an "appendage" of
Sarkisian's and Republican Party (HHK) and will not be by "bribed"
by several ministerial posts. Markarian also made it clear that his
party will not necessarily endorse Sarkisian's presidential bid even
if it chooses to stay in government.

Sarkisian appears to be ready to cut a power-sharing agreement
with Dashnaktsutyun and other political groups loyal to President
Robert Kocharian despite the HHK's landslide victory in the May 12
parliamentary elections. Negotiations between those parties were still
going on as of Tuesday, with no agreements officially announced so far.

Markarian denied media reports that Dashnaktsutyun has already
agreed to take up three ministerial portfolios in Armenia's new
governing coalition. "There is no such agreement," he told RFE/RL
in an interview. "The negotiations are taking longer than expected
not because of haggling over portfolios or other posts. Negotiations
center on more important issues."

"You may join a government for different reasons," continued the
Iranian-born politician. "You may simply be bribed by a few portfolios
to join that government as an appendage."

"You may also join it as a partner after ascertaining policies,
rights, and responsibilities. We are in favor of the latter approach.

This is why [the negotiations] are dragging on," he said. The
nationalist party specifically wants Sarkisian to incorporate some of
the Dashnaktsutyun-backed policies into his cabinet's plan of actions.

Markarian also denied that control over the Armenian Ministry of
Defense Ministry is another necessary condition for Dashnaktsutyun's
continued presence in government. He and other Dashnaktsutyun leaders
openly laid claim to the post in the run-up to the elections.

Newspaper reports last week said the current non-partisan defense
minister, Mikael Harutiunian, will keep his job.

Dashnaktsutyun, which is represented in Armenia's outgoing government
by four ministers, won about 13 percent of the vote and will control
16 of the 131 seats in the newly elected National Assembly. Although
this is an improvement over its performance in the previous legislative
polls, the party is hardly in a position to dictate terms to the HHK,
which got at least 64 parliament seats and is assured of the backing
of several nominally independent lawmakers.

Markarian further indicated that Dashnaktsutyun is reluctant to
commit itself to supporting Sarkisian in the presidential election
due early next year. "We are an independent party guided by our own
decisions," he said. "We cannot sacrifice that independence for the
sake of some agreements."

Asked whether the party still intends to have its own presidential
candidate, Markarian said: "Everything is possible."

Observers believe that the 2008 election is a major reason why
Sarkisian is prepared, in principle, for coalition rule.

The latest events shows that dashnaks influence in internal politics is minimal. They wanted the Defence ministry but nobody will give them such a thing. After they declared that they become an opposition and will not accept symbolic presence in the government. But some rumours said that those dashnaks who have ministrial portfolios didn't want to loose them and they forced ARFD to cooperate with Anrapetakan.

COLLABORATION WITH ARF DASHNAKTSUTYUN WILL BE FRACTIONAL

Lragir.am
05-06-2007 13:42:21

Galust Sahakyan, member of the Republican Party's council, stated
May 5 at the Pastark Club tonight the Bargavach Hayastan Party, the
Republican Party and the ARF Dashnaktsutyun will perhaps sum up the
negotiations over the government and will release their stance. "The
main principle is widely known: we are trying to create a friendly
atmosphere," Galust Sahakyan says, mentioning that the Republican
Party has been ready to collaborate with parties with identical
programs since 1999.

Galust Sahakyan declined to answer the question directly if the
negotiations over the coalition involve the stipulation to support
Serge Sargsyan in the presidential election of 2008. However, he
said underlining it is his personal opinion it is illogical to form
a government together and then support different candidates in the
presidential election. The member of the council of the Republican
Party said if the ARF Dashnaktsutyun refuses to support Serge Sargsyan
and puts up another candidate, collaboration with this party will be
fractional, not profound.

As to signing a memorandum on coalition, Galust Sahakyan said the
format of the collaboration is a technical matter. According to Galust
Sahakyan, the formation of this government does not differ from the
previous and there is no confidentiality. The difference is, according
to Galust Sahakyan, that the talks and political consultations help
define the tactics for the upcoming five years, which include the
presidential election as well.

However, the Republican says the coalition proposals of the Republican
Party are not confined to the desire to guarantee support for the
candidate in the presidential election of 2008. Galust Sahakyan
says the Republican Party has always endorsed use of the potential
of political parties, both in 1999 and in 2003 when there was no
necessity for political support for the presidential candidate.

AIM Leader Says Dashnaksutiun After Money
From: Sebouh Z Tashjian <sebouhz_tashjian@yahoo.com.au>

AIM LEADER SAYS DASHNAKSUTIUN AFTER MONEY

Panorama.am
17:10 02/08/2007

"Dashnaksutiun is a part of authorities and it is unclear for me that
they announce themselves as alternative to authorities or opposition,"
National Self-Determination Union (AIM) Chairman Paruir Hairikyan
told reporters at Hayeli Club today.

Hairikyan said Dashnaksutiun must be after money.

"Isn't this a good opportunity to collect money?" AIM chairman asks
rhetorically. "We are alternative... If it were us, it would be
better... Agreement of Seur.... From sea to sea Armenia..." Hairikyan
says sarcastically. Dashnaksutiun could not prevent any serious danger
jeopardizing our nation since coming into stage, he said.

"I do not know any Dashnak who has died saying "death or freedom" at
the moment of threat to our nation but I do know Dashnaks, spearheaded
by Dro, who have signed an agreement of Armenia's handover to Bolshevik
Empire after which all Armenian officers were murdered and Dro left
abroad safe and sound," AIM chairman said.

Hairikyan quoted the words of first republic's last Prime Minister
Simon Vratsian as saying: "In 1918, we, the Dashnaks, came to an
understanding that we are a failed party but because there was no
other organization and Armenia was getting independence, we became
the owners of the situation."

Speaking about the problem of "common spelling," Hairikyan said in
1988 he could convince Robert Kocharyan "who does not have good
understanding of the Armenian language" that it is an important
issue but Kocharyan gave him an answer saying Dashnak Levon Mkrtchyan
advised to keep away from that problem, saying it is "a headache."

Yes, according to this fool, the ARF has done nothing for our nation. You could select at random ten members of the ARF, and I bet they have done more for Armenia and Armenians than this moron's party.
It's a custom of the human condition for the masses to remain ignorant. It's what they do. In fact, that IS how "the peace" is kept. Whatever democracy we have here is a spectator's sport.

This is the same idiot that is desperately trying to rid Armenia of the "Russian" military presence.
