Since the 1940\u2019s, the ancient Armenian Apostolic Church has been under the hierarchy\u2019s intent to integrate it into the world\u2019s ecumenical tentacles of the World Council of Churches (WCC). It began with the mother church of Etchmiadzin in Soviet Armenia adding to the church\u2019s title the word \u201cOrthodox.\u201d<\/strong> We should remember that it was Archbishop Tiran Nersoyan of the Soviet dominated mother church of Etchmiadzin who authored the book titled \u201cA Christian Approach to Communism\u201d, in 1942, while residing in London.<\/p>\n

NOTE: The Mother See of Giligia and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Party vehemently opposed the usage of the word \u201cOrthodox\u201d in the 1950s. Today, it is totally silent about the word \u201cOrthodox.\u201d<\/p>\n

A document titled Ecumenical Trends in the Armenian Church (Brief Observations) <\/em><\/strong>by Catholicos of \u201cAll\u201d Armenians, Karekin I, dated January 1998. This 12 page dissertation attempts to make a point for adding the word \u201cOrthodox<\/strong>\u201d into the title of Armenia\u2019s ancient Apostolic Church. To make his point, he relates examples of close historic relationships with other world churches throughout the centuries.<\/p>\n

On page 1, he states<\/strong>: \u201cThe word ecumenical <\/em>(worldwide universal) today has acquired a wider sense that covers the whole range on inter-associations, relationships, church prayers, theological discussions and practical cooperation among the Christian Churches.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rebuttal: Why should ancient Armenia\u2019s national church be involved in extraneous distractions (world church)? Have all the Armenian Apostolic Churches problems been cured?<\/p>\n

On page 6, he states<\/strong>: \u201cTowards the end of the 19<\/span>th century the Armenian Church with its spiritual center of Holy Etchmiadzin opened a new page of ecumenical openness this time with academic centers and circles of German theological scholarship and the Protestant Churches in Germany. The last three decades of the century marked a significant turning point in German Protestant theological thought. Historical and Patristic studies in the early centuries of Christian history had given way to a new interpretation of the essence of the Christian faith. One of the outstanding figures of this period, an internationally known scholar-theologian, Adolf von Harnack made a real impact on the direction of Christian theological thinking in Germany when he advocated for the liberation of Christian faith from its dogmatic entanglements. Through his extensive biblical and patristic studies, particularly his masterly work, the seven-volume \u201cHistory of Dogma<\/em>\u201d (The summary published in one volume under the title of \u201cOutlines of the History of Dogma<\/em>\u201d) he showed that the simplicity of Christ\u2019s teaching as displayed in the Gospels had been blurred and even distorted by being treated and interpreted through norms of Greek philosophical and metaphysical thinking. For him, the core of the Gospel content is ethical in nature. The conceptualized, intellectualistic and rationalistic interpretations had carried the Christian faith to a dogmatic formulation process that had damaged the existential nature of Christian religion.\u201d<\/span><\/sup><\/p>\n

Rebuttal: Does he mean in this paragraph that prior to the end of the 19th century the Armenian Church leaders since St. Gregory the Illuminator (240AD \u2013 325AD) did not understand the words of Lord Jesus Christ until the German theological scholarship and the Protestant churches had given way to a new interpretation of the essence of the Christian faith?<\/span><\/p>\n

On pages 6 &7 he states<\/strong>: \u201cIt was in this particular theological scholarly climate that found themselves young Armenian students (mostly ordained deacons) who had come from the Kevorkian Seminary of Holy Etchmiadzin to Germany, namely, to Berlin, Leipzig, Halle, Tuhingen, and elsewhere, to pursue their theological studies in German centers of high learning and research work. I cannot give a full account of all that they achieved in their studies in Germany and, more importantly, what they accomplished after they returned to their own Church center in Etchmiadzin and to their own country of Armenia. But surely they opened a new page in the ecumenical relationship between Germany and Armenia mostly in the areas of theological research, patristic studies and Christian preaching.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Rebuttal: This paragraph is a most excellent revelation of sending ordained deacons from Armenia\u2019s Kevorkian Seminary and the Seminary of the Cilician See in Bikfayya Lebanon, to higher centers of learning \u201cecumenical brainwashing\u201d. Bishop Karekin Sarkissian of the Cilician See was sent to Oxford University School of Theology, in London. Shortly afterwards was created the participation and commitment to the \u201cWorld Council of Churches.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This invented<\/span> One World Church, like all other false prophets that have in filtered Christianity, is no different than the disguises of false gods used through the centuries by those who totally hated Christianity. Our enlightened \u201cNew Age\u201d clerical leaders have forgotten the true Kingdom of God because they have been taught in seminaries financed and influenced by the wealth of the world\u2019s moneychangers. They are being taught secular humanism and (socialist) liberation theology within these tainted seminaries. Secular humanism is contrary to the Lord\u2019s Word. Jesus\u2019 words were not a social relationship of this world. His words were a relationship with God, a spiritual one<\/span>. Christ was not a worldly Marx but rather the light of mankind<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is a well known fact to most Armenians in the Middle East. When he was \u2018elected\u2019 as a Catholicos after the transfer of the late Garegin II of Ciliacia (Garegin I of All Armenians — unfortunately yet another Freemason, but with a lesser degree and influence than notorious Aram I) to Echmiadzin, his ‘brothers’ in the Freemason lodge of “East of Kanaan” hung a very large banner on the entire facade of the Catholicosate of Cilicia in Antelias (suburb of Beirut), congratulating him at the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was indeed very shameful for all conscious Armenians. He is very influential in the Masonic circles and holds tight contacts with other infamous well-known Freemason statesmen. Do you have any doubt that hadn’t he been a high-ranked Freemason, would he be appointed chairman of the Zionist den called WCC?<\/span><\/p>\n

P.S. I have once seen in a secret internal journal of Lebanese Freemasonry in Arabic, a message forwarded to Aram I where they expressed about their pride having their 33 degree ‘brother’ among their ranks. Moreover, the presidents of both branches of Freemasonry in Lebanon, i.e. “Grand Loge du Cedre” (Grand Freemason Lodge of the Cedar — Scottish Rite and “East of Kanaan” — US wing) are ethnic Armenian ‘Grand Masters’, one of them is called Michel Zeitunlian. Can
\nyou imagine to what an extent has degeneration reached in the ranks of the decendents of the Great Armenian Genocide. The ‘traditions’ of Krikor Zohrab, Agnouni, Rouben Zartarian and Tiran Kelekian of the “Ottoman Grand Orient Lodge” is continuing and progressing.<\/span><\/p>\n

A book written by Albert Mackey titled Encyclopedia of Freemasonry<\/em>, contains almost 1,000 pages. This Masonic encyclopedia contains articles on almost every false god of the pagan world, but it contains not even a trace of an article on Jesus Christ, the Son of God. \u201cOne quick glance at the ritual for the Shriners (an organization only opened to those Masons who have earned the 32nd degree) clearly illustrates that! The oath for that order states: \u201cMay Allah, the god of Arab, Moslem and Mohammedan, the god of our fathers, support me.\u201d Not only is Allah mentioned by name, but he is called \u201cthe god of our fathers!\u201d This oath is sworn on the Koran (the \u201cbible\u201d of the Moslems). The Christian Bible tells us \u201cswear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath (James 5:12).\u201d The Bible also warns us \u201cMake no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth (Exodus 23:13).\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Author, Dr. Cathy Burns, has a degree in Bible philosophy and has spent the past 19 years doing extensive research on the New Age movement and related subjects. She has written many articles, tracts, and booklets on various subjects. Her name is listed in Who\u2019s Who in Religion, Two Thousand Outstanding Intellectuals of the 20th Century, Five Hundred Notable Women, Outstanding People of the 20th Century, Who\u2019s Who in the East, Who\u2019s Who in America, World Who\u2019s Who of Women, Dictionary of International Biography, and Two Thousand Notable American Women<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Personal note: It is impossible to be a true Christian and a Mason at the same time.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

While the mother church is involving itself with the creation of the \u201cOne World Church\u201d many sects and cults are propagating in Armenia as well as the Protestant Church. In the Diaspora the situation of the Armenian Apostolic Churches are facing the specter of assimilation. The second generation is getting older and tired, while the creation of more churches takes place. There is a great shortage of choir leaders, organists, and clergy. The rate of enumeration for clergy has risen to the figure of $70,000 to $90,000 per year. Over 90% of the congregations do not understand the classical Armenian. They just sit there. Is it not possible to translate the badarak to the spoken Armenian?<\/span><\/p>\n

THE MIGRATING CATHOLICOSATE:<\/span><\/p>\n

What is not generally known is that the Catholicosate in Etchmiadzin left in 485 AD to safer places. First, to the new capital Dvin. It moved from Dvin to Dzoravank and then to Aghtamar (927), to Arghina (947) and to Ani (992). After the fall of Ani (1045), masses of Armenians migrated to Cilicia. The Catholicosate, together with the people, settled there. It was first established in Thavblour (1062), then in Dzamendav (1072), in Dzovk (1116), in Hromkla (1149), and finally in Sis (1293), the capital of the Cilician Kingdom, where it remained for seven centuries. After the fall of the Armenian Kingdom in Cilicia, in (1375), the church also assumed the role of national leadership, and the Catholicos was recognized as Ethnarch (Head of the Nation).<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

In the meantime Armenia was having a relatively peaceful time. The deteriorating situation in Cilicia on one hand and the growing ecclesiastical awakening in Armenia, led the bishops of Armenia to elect a Catholicos in Etchmiadzin. In 1441, a new Catholicos was elected in Etchmiadzin in the person of Kirakos Virapetsi. At the same time Krikor Moussapegiants (1439- 1446) was the Catholicos of Cilicia. Therefore, since 1441, there have been two Catholicosates in the Armenian Church. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n

It has been noticed during a number of years, that the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin emphasizes in its title \u201cALL<\/span>\u201d Armenians. It is not understood what \u201cALL<\/span>\u201d means. Does it mean that its jurisdiction also includes the Catholicos of Cilicia?<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Rousas J. Rushdoony (a descendant of Armenians from Van), and one of America\u2019s most well respected Christian leaders makes a very choice comment regarding this subject: \u201cThe concern of Christianity\u2019s enemies is a New World Order<\/span>, one without Christ. Man believes that he can, with his planning and controls create a better, (more) orderly arrangement than can the triune (trinity) of God. Of course, what he creates is not a cosmos, but rather a vast and evil disorder.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Revisionism will only de-nationalize the Armenian Church with the acceptance of a globalized church. It will hasten the day of extinction for the most historically free, unique, and ancient church of Christendom. The Armenian people should demand that its church leaders refrain from chasing phantoms of non Christian, man made entities, and concentrate totally on improving the religious and spiritual values of our people instead of supporting the enemies of Christianity. With that achieved, the world will then recognize the greatness of the Armenian Church and its people.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Let the Armenian Church return to its early Christian roots to regain God\u2019s blessings and thus again be a true godly Christian people, and the light to a confused world.<\/span><\/p>\n
